Young Eagles Rally - October 4, 2003

With considerable effort, we had an almost perfect setup for this rally.  People at Pinnacle Air were very helpful and the hanger we setup in was ideal for our needs.  There was a large entry area with an entrance just off the parking lot where we had two tables for parents or kids to fill out the application forms.  Jay Hale's wife, Joyce, was set up with a computer and could enter all the information we needed to send to Oshkosh so it didn't have to be done later from the application sheets.  This also established numbers for the kids and a pre-printed card was numbered and had the kids name on it.  This kept them all in order and made it simple to know who came next.
Another lounge area was available for ground school and two more of our tables were used for that.  Two rows of chairs were lined up, one for kids waiting for ground school and the other for those waiting to fly.  Jay Hale had the other computer right at the main hanger door for printing the certificates.
There were plenty of airplanes and pilots (five of each).  The weather couldn't have been better.  Our only problem was there were only 19 kids to fly.  There is either something wrong with Springdale or something wrong with Young Eagles in the fall.  Maybe we can figure it out next year.
I want to thank Joyce, Jay, Dave Bowman and Bob Kellett for jobs well done and especially thank Paul Cortlett who always does a great job and even brought two Young Eagles.
Thanks also to the pilots; John Kinsey, Rick McKinney, Rex Stewart, Wayne Larabee, and Jim Hillabrand.
