Chapter 732's Board of Directors was looking for a way to recognize members when they realized there was a sizable group that had flown a completed project. Since quite a few of our members are actively working on a project it seemed like a great way to honor those that stayed the course and reaped the reward of seeing their creation fly. We compiled a list of 13 names and 14 completions, one member having two first flights. We arranged to have some very nice "first flight plaques" made with the name, type of aircraft, N number and date of first flight prominently displayed. We planned to present these awards at one of our better attended meetings, our annual May picnic and officer election meeting. We had 28 members , 9 of them past presidents of the chapter, and about that many more family members and guests present for the meeting. Unfortunately, we had several active members that weren't able to make this meeting, including several of the awardees. After a very nice lunch we elected our 2005 officers. Congratulations to Doug Stone--President, Dave Hill- Vice President, Rich Roust- Treasurer, and Troy Bates-Secretary. Young Eagles have been a big part of the chapter for the last several years and we had another successful event at Drake Field in Fayetteville with 32 kids getting a ride from one of the 8 airplanes/pilots that were there. Then we were able to get to the presentation of the plaques. We had 9 members present that had successfully flown their aircraft. We feel that we have a pretty good percentage of completions for the size of our chapter. We currently have 72 members, 12 of those have joined in the last year, and at least 13 completions. Not too shabby!
