These R/C were equipped with real jet engines that flew on JetA fuel with top speeds over 200 mph. We had a wonderful time and a great lunch. We met some great guys and they hope to make this an annual event. 150 student from the local school came out to learn about the model jets and see them perform. What a cool air show!

05/06/2016 - I had never flown into Gaston's before, so I asked my friend Mike if he would fly over with me and lead the way in. Gaston's has one way in and one way out so it can be a little hairy if the winds are high. Today the weather was perfect! Calm winds and 75 degrees. I was sure glad I had watched other videos of arrival and departures before flying in for the first time. We had a great lunch at the restaurant and spent some time enjoying the scenery. Such a relaxing place to visit. Thanks again goes out to Mike and Loni for going and sharing in the experience with me.

After a two year hiatus from Airventure in 2012, my father and I made the trek once more in our 1949 Piper Clipper. Even though there was a sparsity in show planes due to sequestration keeping the modern military from attending; Airventure 2013 was as good as ever! In fact, I would venture to say that each of the respective aircraft categories (homebuilts, vintage, etc) had record numbers of attendance! It was packed this year with pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike! From the serene waters of the seaplane base, to the care free nature of the ultralight field, to the muscle of the warbirds right down to the excitement of the afternoon airshow; you'll see all of that in this year's Airventure 2013 video! For one week each year, those who have a passion for flight leave worldly troubles behind and travel to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for their own taste of bliss! slickhutto

08/11/2015 - EAA chapter 732 member Frank K. flew his Sonex Onex 090 for the first time today at KSLG. The weather could not have been better for test flying a newly built plane. I was not able to be there for Franks 1st flight he made earlier that morning, but I was able to go out that evening to watch him make a couple beautiful flights! What an amazing accomplishment it is to fly a plane you built! Congratulations Frank!

While I didn't get the opportunity to fly to Airventure this year, Oshkosh was still calling my name. After a 21 hour drive from central Texas, I made it for an incredible 9 days at this wonderful event with outstanding friends! This year marked with fantastic tributes to EAA Founder Paul Poberezny, who died last August at 91, the 50th Anniversary of the Breezy, Salute to Vietnam Veterans, One Week Wonder, Valdez STOL competition and of course the first ever performance by a United States military jet demonstration team; the Thunderbirds. Sit back and enjoy this taster of the sights from Airventure 2014! slickhutto
